ACM Molutrex 5% for Targeted Molluscum Contagiosum Treatment

ACM Molutrex is a 5% potassium hydroxide solution for the local treatment of molluscum contagiosum. Its 3 ml bottle includes a brush and fine applicator for precise application directly onto individual lesions. This CE-marked Class IIa medical device requires no rinsing and can be used on eligible areas of the face and body in adults and children aged 2 years and older, excluding the eye area and mucous membranes.

How it works

How Molutrex Potassium Hydroxide Acts on Molluscum Lesions

Potassium hydroxide is an alkaline ingredient with a keratolytic action, meaning it helps break down proteins in the affected skin tissue. Applied precisely to a molluscum lesion, Molutrex produces a local reaction that helps the lesion resolve.

Redness or inflammation marks the point at which application to that particular lesion must stop. The bump then settles over the following weeks. Because the solution can damage healthy skin, careful application is essential.

Active Ingrediets

ACM Molutrex Active Ingredient: Potassium Hydroxide 5%

Potassium hydroxide is the active ingredient in Molutrex. Each millilitre contains 50 mg, equivalent to a 5% solution. It acts locally on molluscum contagiosum lesions through its alkaline, keratolytic properties.

Purified water forms the solution’s liquid base, allowing the potassium hydroxide to be applied using the supplied applicators.

How to Use it

How to Apply ACM Molutrex 5% Solution

Read the enclosed leaflet carefully before use. Application must be carried out by an adult.

Before the first application, replace the original bottle cap with the child-resistant cap fitted with the brush. Use the separate fine applicator when greater precision is needed for very small lesions.

Place the open bottle on a flat surface. Dip the brush or fine applicator into the solution, then wipe excess liquid against the bottle rim so that no drop forms. Apply a small amount directly onto each molluscum lesion, keeping the solution away from surrounding healthy skin. Reload the applicator after every two or three lesions.

Allow the solution to dry without rinsing. When treating a child, prevent them from touching the area while it dries. Close the bottle securely after use and wash your hands.

Apply once or twice daily until redness or inflammation develops, usually within 2–10 days. Stop applying to each individual lesion as soon as this reaction appears. Do not treat the same lesion for more than 14 days. If there is no response within this period, contact your doctor.

Molutrex Precautions and Restrictions

For external use only. The solution may be corrosive if used incorrectly. Do not allow it to contact healthy skin, the eyes, the eye area, mucous membranes, open wounds or scratched skin.

Do not use in children under 2 years, with an allergy to either ingredient, on infected or already inflamed molluscum lesions, or on ordinary warts or other skin growths. Do not use in people with acute atopic eczema or a deficient immune system.

During breastfeeding, do not apply to areas that could contact the baby.

If the solution touches surrounding healthy skin, rinse with water. If it enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention. If it contacts your fingers, wash immediately before touching your eyes or mucous membranes.

ACM Molutrex 5% for Local Molluscum Contagiosum Treatment

Molluscum contagiosum causes small raised bumps on the skin and commonly affects children, although adults can develop it too. ACM Molutrex offers a targeted topical approach for treating these individual lesions.

The solution is applied directly to each eligible bump using the supplied applicator. Its focused application method allows treatment to be directed onto the affected tissue while avoiding surrounding healthy skin. This precision is central to using Molutrex correctly.

Why Potassium Hydroxide Is Used for Molluscum Lesions

Molutrex contains potassium hydroxide at a concentration of 5%. This alkaline ingredient acts on the affected skin tissue, helping break down the lesion’s surface and produce a local inflammatory response.

The application endpoint is visible redness or inflammation. Once this develops on a treated bump, further application to that bump must stop. The process continues after application ends, as the lesion gradually settles.

Understanding this sequence helps users follow the treatment correctly: apply carefully, monitor each lesion and stop at the specified reaction.

Molutrex 3 ml With Two Precision Applicators

The Molutrex pack contains a brush incorporated into a child-resistant cap and a separate fine applicator. These provide options for applying the solution to lesions of different sizes.

The fine applicator is particularly useful for very small bumps, where controlled placement matters. Before application, excess solution should be removed against the bottle rim to prevent a drop from forming.

No rinsing is needed after correct application. Allowing the treated area to dry helps prevent the liquid from being transferred onto surrounding skin through touching.

Understanding Molutrex Redness and Treatment Timing

Redness usually develops within 2–10 days of application. This is the signal to stop treating the affected lesion, rather than an instruction to continue until the bump disappears.

After application stops, treated lesions may resolve over the following 2–6 weeks. This is a gradual process, and individual responses can vary.

Each lesion needs to be monitored separately. A bump that has become inflamed should receive no further solution, even if other eligible lesions are still being treated. Application must never exceed 14 days on the same lesion.

Molutrex for Adults and Children Aged 2 Years and Older

Molutrex can be used in adults and children from age 2, with application performed by an adult. It is suitable for eligible lesions on the face and body, provided the eye area and mucous membranes are avoided.

For parents and caregivers, the practical routine involves preparing the applicator, placing a small amount onto each lesion and preventing the child from touching the area until it dries. Careful supervision supports accurate placement of the solution.

Its defined indication, 5% concentration and two applicators make ACM Molutrex a focused option for local molluscum treatment. Follow the enclosed instructions and the product-specific precautions throughout use.
